Dinner parties are the new dining out.   Through the ages, gatherings of friends and food have endured.  Old friends, newcomers, hot food, chilled wine, glowing light, and stories into the dark.  There is no greater human connection than sitting face-to-face, breaking bread, and sharing a meal.  Dinner parties -- in any form and by every name -- are the stuff of life.

While living in Paris in my early twenties, with only a few dollars for dried pasta, daily bread, and a rustic sauce cooked over a hot plate in a 150 sq.ft. chambre de bonne, we somehow managed to gather our bowls together, pull up a chair, and host three, four, and five people for a night of laughter, food, and fun.  Those are the times of my life I miss most.

With that, I hope to host small, casual dinner parties -- about one every three weeks -- or about 17 in a year, inviting friends and newcomers once again to gatherings of good food and good stories.  It is part of the pull I feel toward a more meaningful, intentional life.

Join me as I explore my own journey through food, photography, travel, and stories of those I meet along the way.

Food, friends, low light, and stories late into the night . . .

"If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast."

- Ernest Hemingway, The Moveable Feast
